## Ventilation Concepts for Livestock Housing

TPI-Polytechniek provides solutions for all major ventilation concepts used worldwide:

### Cross Ventilation
Ideal for narrow houses with gable-side doors/rooms. Air enters through sidewall valves, exits via opposite wall fans. Perfect for poultry requiring cooling without full tunnel ventilation.

### Longitudinal Ventilation
Most popular worldwide concept for wider houses with obstacles (aviaries, pens, cages). Air enters along both sidewalls, exhausts through end gable fans with cascade control. Suitable for all animal types and climates.

### Roof Ventilation
Uses sidewall air inlets with roof-mounted exhaust chimneys. Common when gable fans aren't feasible. Works well in intermediate climates for poultry; excellent for pigs when combined with straight-valve inlets for upward air direction. Compatible with heating/cooling systems.

### Tunnel Ventilation
Primary cooling method for hot conditions. Creates high airspeed through entire house length. Often combined with cooling pads for poultry. Less common for pigs due to draft sensitivity, but sometimes necessary in extreme heat.

### Combined Roof-Tunnel Ventilation
Dual-mode system: roof ventilation for minimum ventilation/cold periods, tunnel ventilation for maximum cooling. Offers superior control across wide temperature ranges. Particularly effective for poultry housing.

### Combined Longitudinal-Tunnel Ventilation
No chimneys used. Longitudinal ventilation for minimum phases, gradually transitions to tunnel mode as temperature rises or animals grow. Widely used in warm climates, especially poultry. Highly effective with cooling pad integration.

### Ceiling Ventilation
Air enters through ceiling inlets from attic space where it's pre-heated. Exhausts via floor or gable fans. Prevents cold air drop onto animals. Preferred solution for coldest climates worldwide, both pigs and poultry.

### Chimney Ventilation (Equal Pressure / EPV)
Both intake and exhaust through roof chimneys. Perfect when sidewalls unavailable or for free-range houses. Negative pressure (exhaust fans only) or equal pressure (both intake/exhaust fans).
